In His Own Words
About him
I was chatting to a friend the other day about my abject failure to meet a soulmate (mainly down to lethargy rather than incompatibility) when she said, 'You don't need a soulmate you just need a companion.' The word 'companion' sounds a bit boring to me but I did wonder if Marks and Spencers did them in a medium.
I've noticed things that were important to me in my 30s aren't necessarily at the top of the agenda anymore. Hair for instance, cars and trousers also. It's a little disconcerting that I now derive pleasure from things like gardening and feeding birds. Perhaps I should see a doctor. As an antidote to that I can be a little outrageous with a caustic sense of humour. I you were to enter a room full of people that know me well and asked which one of us had forgotten to grow up - they'd all point at me. I'm quite proud of that. I practice being a robot whilst I'm waiting for the kettle to boil.
I'm a graphic designer by trade however, over the last few years I've moved in a different direction. I've written and illustrated five children's picture books and I visit schools to read my books and teach art to classrooms full of excited 8-year-olds and guess what? I only bloody love it!
This is me - dad, grandad, designer, artist, doodler, cook, idiot, sporty person, daydreamer, simpleton. I can be entertaining, part-time drama queen, creative, annoying and vaguely romantic all at the same time. You just have to pick the wheat from the chap.
About his ideal match
As for you, I want to buy you a present, catch moonbeams in a jar with you, share pencils with rubbers on the end, run hand-in-hand away from spiders and trade banter of an amusing nature. I'd share my marshmallows with you too (I'd have the pink and white ones, you can have the other colours), however, you would have to arm-wrestle me for my chocolate. Hopefully, you still believe in Father Christmas, know how to defrost coconut ice and can give me a run for my money at ping-pong and chess.
