If they find my profile interesting and my appearance acceptable and where they are curious enough to find out more then that would be good. I play the piano by ear although I have been told that I could get better results if I used my fingers. I research a lot, legal mainly, for the two books I have written. I play Bridge and am a tidy soul. I have a nice house and garden, south west facing so sun all afternoon. I am partial to a nice Cuban cigar with a whisky or two on the patio in the sunshine. I am retired. I am a big fan of Freud who once wrote that the two things most important to us are love and work and I agree. A good work ethic is important. I drive a Mini Cooper. I am a member of two political parties. I was out of the country when the Brexit referendum was held so I did not vote and how I would have voted is not a barrier to anyone here. We have much bigger fish to fry. I have two sisters and a daughter and learned a long time ago how to compromise with, and respect, women. I enjoy cooking, and can make an excellent Bolognese sauce. I love good wine, red, preferably from Italy or Portugal. I have lived and worked in six countries in the EU and have a good understanding of other cultures. Finally, I am Scottish, from the beautiful Victorian city of Glasgow.
About his ideal match
I don't have an ideal match. Sometimes friendships and relationships grow out of the most unexpected pairings and things like beauty are not for me so important in a woman although I have no objection to it! I tend to prefer intelligence in a woman over everything else although goodness and kindness, character, and a nice appearance matter. I am usually attracted to eccentricity because in my experience eccentric people are often intelligent and interesting. If a woman is interested in politics that is a plus. I don't mind if a woman smokes and drinks.
