About him
After a long career that took me to live and work in various corners of the world, I retired in 2018 with big plans — none of which survived covid, and then life took a harder turn when my wife became seriously ill. I spent four years as her full-time carer, and it was the most important thing I've ever done. She passed away recently, and I'm now, cautiously and optimistically, ready to start a new chapter.
I'm close to my children, I care deeply about the people in my life, and I take things seriously when they matter — my 1,275-day streak on Duolingo (Italian, with French on the side) probably says that better than I can. I love good food and the kind of meal that turns into a three-hour conversation. I follow football and cricket with genuine passion, enjoy walking, and am happiest somewhere warm with good wine and better company.
My current project is getting fit — I've just joined a gym and have a few kilos to lose. After that, Italy feels like a very good idea.
